Week 4 blog - Processors
For your Internet research, compare two processors currently being produced for personal computers. Use standard industry benchmarks for your comparison and briefly list the advantages nad disadvantages of each. You can compare idfferent processor from the same manufacturer (such as Intel) or processors from different manafacturers. Note that this is the same as the assignment in your syllabus. You do NOT have to provide a hard-copy of your research. Your entry in the blog is sufficient, but do remember to summarize your findings, provide a relevant URL of one of the sources your used, and include your name.

There's not much difference between the HP TouchPad Motorola's Xoom (arriving later this month), and the Apple iPad. But if you look beyond the roughly 10-inch touchscreens, you'll find some significant differences.
The HP TouchPad will be the first tablet running WebOS, the operating system that HP acquired in its purchase of Palm last year. The TouchPad will employ the same card-stack metaphor for organizing apps found on Palm smartphones.Although the TouchPad will come in 16GB and 32GB versions, the Xoom will come in just one 32GB version. The two processor that I always look into are from AMD and Intel. Too many aspects are involved when it comes to buying or building your own computer starting with processors such as clock speeds, socket types and memory controllers, backwards compatibility, power consumption, caches and much more. Most consumers try to find the least expensive for the best value and the features. At the moment for just raw speed, Intel processors outrun AMD processors. However AMD is capable of performing same task, just not as quickly but at a more resonable price. AMD is more backwards compatibilty than Intel,
so you don't have to worry about looking for the correct motherboard and socket types to run your processor and multiple incompatible versions of the same CPU: "buy an AM3 motherboard and it'll run just about anything." Overall if you are on a budget I recommend going for AMD over Intel, however if price is not a factor and performance and speed means everything then Intel is the way to go. When I built my computer for gaming and my home theatre, (and for some school work), I choose the AMD phenom II quad core runnning at 3.6ghz. Very happy with AMD and have nothing negative to say about this manufacturer.

Processors, Only two that I know are Intel and AMD. The Intel CORE i7 is also know as 2nd generation, "Sandy Bridge", which offer 64 Bit 2,4,& 6 core in highest level of general performance, and the AMD Phenom II X6 which repersents first consumer class six core processor.

The two processors I compared are the AMD Phenom II 1090T and Intel Core I7 930.
The Advantages AMD has 6 cores while Intel Has 4, AMD Has 9MB total Cache and Intel Has 8MB. Intel has hyper-threading that utilizes Intel’s proprietary software to enhance thread processing on each of the four cores. AMD does not have hyper-threading. AMD clock speed is 3.2Ghz and Intel clock speed is 2.8Ghz. Both are 64 bit. Physical cores outperform enhanced threading software in certain applications but enhanced threading uses the core more efficiently.

i compaired Intel® Core™ i7-2715QE Processor (6M Cache, 2.10 GHz) to the Intel® Core™ i5-2405S Processor (6M Cache, 2.50 GHz)
Other than Price - i7 being $568 and i5 being $238 - there is really no diffrence with that abilitly. Both have 6.0 MB Cache, both have the same graphic capabilities, they both have the same about of prossesors 4. The only real diffrence is that the i7 has twice as many thread, 8 instead of 4 and the clock speed is .40 ghz faster.

The processors I chose are the I7-2600k, and the monstrosity of power it is, in comparison to its mobile cousin, the I7-2960XM.
Starting with the XM's massive L3 cache of 8 (and upto 16Mb) It actually has an advantage over its non-mobile counterpart, who contains a maximum of 12Mb. As far as power consumption goes, as expected, the desktop unit, requires about 50W more power.
However, something interesting happens once you look at clock speeds, the mobile 2960XM actually has a HIGHER max end clock, even though both units are four core processors.

Two common processors for personal computers are the Intel and the AMD processors. Intel is the largest and sole supplier for Apple computers. The Intel Core I7 Mobile has significant power savings as well as Hyper Threading and Turbo Boost. It is available with 2 or 4 cores with the 4 cores offering higher performance. Howerver heat and battery life are disadvantages. AMD is the second largest supplier of processors for personal use. The AMD Phenom II X6 is the first six-core processor and features faster processing speed. The Cool'n'Quiet feature reduces heat and noise from the processors for increased energy efficiency. However, it has only 6 threads and no hyper-threading.

The big two prcessor manufacturers are Intel and AMD. The processors I'm going to compare are two high end processors that are designed for advanced 3D graphics and video. Intel's i7 processor wants to perform those advance things, but also focus on other things such as energy consumption, and is more available to most PCs. AMD's Phenom II processor wants to go all out performing. Intel is more focused on the consumer, while AMD focuses on making the computer do the best it can do.

One of the last real battles between processors has always been between Intel and AMD. When AMD last seriously threatened the PC processor world and Intel was hobbling along with the inefficient Pentium 4, it seemes like the end. But Intel, has this bag, and they reach deep-down inside and pulled some stuff out that no one thought possible. Now the tides have turned and PCs are something of a relic. Smartphones and Tablets are in. ARM and Intel are on the front lines today. ARM chipsets are heavy favorites, because you can run OS-uspecific functions. Whereas Intel is geared towards running Microsoft OS. Many major companies have invested in ARM, Qualcomm, Samsung, Texas Instruments, NVidia and newly, Apple. ARM is sweeping the market with its ablility to adapt to the OS manufactures Specs. Where ARM falls short and Intel takes leaping bounds, is its operations. Intel still leads in operation times and use-ability. Because ARM is moded to adapt it loses some of its "UMPF" in operation. Only time will tell, and with Intels history of glorious happenings, we just might see some amazing breakthroughs in the near future.

I am a fan of the under dog processor, the AMD Chip and I am also a fan of the INTEL Chip as well..... So I put them side by the side and this is what I found. The AMD Chip I looked at was the AMD Phenom II X6 and the INTEL Chip I looked at was theIntel Core i7. Both chips are top of the line right now as High End Processors. The AMD Phenom II X6 1090T has a average cpu mark of 6054 and runs for a average price of $160.00 on tiger direct and compared to its equal intel chip the I7 870 is faster with a averago cpu mark of 6099. which from my understanding is almost unnoticable in difference. but the price is noticable becuase the I7 870 chip is sold for roughly $300.00, depending on who you buy it from. I perfer the AMD chips because they are the under dog in some cases and they offer better processing for graphics when you use there grapics cards.
Intel Pentium mobile b940 is build on sandy bridge micro architecture and is one of the first three Pentium branded mobile microprocessor. It was spotted for the first time on Hewlet Packard 431 and 630 business laptops in April 2011. AMD A6-Series A6-3400M is an A6 series for notebooks and it was introduced in June 2011. This was one of the 6 other dual-quad, part of Sabine platform for mid-class mainstream notebooks.

Intel Core i7, reading what it is going to be capable of speed wise, memory an the price is gonna be well under 1000 bucks, an to see that wheither your a hardcore gamer or not, this badboy is gonna rock, its going to increase bandwith, memory an all up to 25.6 Gigs per second.Its gonna have Intel Hyper boost, thread an intel smart cache, this for me as a gamer is gonna totally be awesome.
the only manufacturers that i know is: Intel and AMD. AMD will release Opteron 6200 series processor for 2012 and it has 16-core, memory channels up to 1600MHz, and a 3.3GHz based frequency. on the hand, Intel Core i7 processor has a 2.66GHz and 4 cores. most likely, if you don't have enough money i7 is a way to get.

The processors that I have seen all my life are Intel pentium series and the amd series. The most recent intel processer that I researched is Intel® Core™ Processor i5-2435M
