PC magazine states Office 2007 (Codename Office 12) packs the biggest changes in Office suites in 10 years. Why is Microsoft doing this? Well there could be several reasons. Number one I think is more people than ever are using computers and according to my research MS 2007 is supposed to make it easier for the novice user to use Office suites. But it also expands Sharepoint which some experts claim will change the way we post e-mail treads. They will expand this for the computer savvy by having Office SharePoint Designer 2007, replace FrontPage 2003. Designer 2007 is for building Web sites that incorporate SharePoint and for incorporating workflow between and among those sites. This figures since I am taking FrontPage 2003 this semester.
I also think that Microsoft is receiving a lot of pressure from such competitors like Goggle and they are trying to evolve and stay a step ahead. In the end I think it is Bill Gates being Bill Gates. All you have to say is the magic words new and improved and we will eat it up. Bill Gates has become the richest man alive by using this formula time and time again. While I know there will be improvements, I also know I will wait till Service Pack 2 comes out before I put in my Office 2007 on my home system. From my five years in testing software I have found it is sometimes better to wait, no matter how good it sounds.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Real time is the future and with MS 2007 the future is now.

Microsoft is coming out with an OS called Vista which is supposed to help businesses run a more secure network. It is due to come out during the holiday season (around Thanksgiving next year). Vista will allow people to log into their business' system remotely, without connecting onto a VPN (virtual private network, users can browse the net using internet explorer 7 and it is said to be safer, and installation of patches will be easier to install and will help computers from attacks. Microsoft will test the new OS "Vista" to a select 500,000 customers and will release the product next year. Google is a major threat to Microsoft on and off the desktop as well as other companies which offer free services such as e-mail accounts like yahoo. These other companies also pose a threat to Microsoft. I think Microsoft wants to Monopolize the internet software business and branch out to hurt the other companies such as Google and Yahoo because they don't like the competition.

In order for a company to stay ahead of the game (so to speak) and be above other competitors they need to be able to invent and create the "ideas" for which other companies will follow. Microsoft doesn't want to be second place.
Microsoft new OS Vista and Office 2007 looks great. Office 2007 according to the article suppose to be user-friendly.Vista suppose to be stable (yeah right) and with better security. These two product might put microsoft back in the software war. For wednesday class Linux is awesome you have full control of your computer not let windows do everything for you. Im glad someone tested Microsoft made their own OS. thx Mr Linus Torvalds.

I am not very experienced with any other office suites or software than Microsoft, but I feel that it is just another new product for microsoft to sell to make more money. I don't think they have a a lot of competition to the range of people that I Know that use their products. But once again that shows my inexperience with other software and other markets.

I do like the way Linux lets you control your computer. I think it will be more difficult than Windows for a while because we are so spoiled with clicking icons and Windows doing everything for us. I like Linux and look forward to learning more about it.

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 will integrate capabilities of SharePoint, a collaboration program and Web portal that is designed to run over corporate networks and the Internet.
This version will also incorporate Microsoft Office Communicator, a corporate instant messaging service.
A premium edition, Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007,also incorporates another work-sharing technology from Groove Networks Inc., the company Microsoft acquired last year and whose founder, Ray Ozzie, is now Microsoft's Web services guru.
this Office Groove allows groups to synchronize in real time the progress made by its members, while also providing the flexibility to work offline before reconnecting with the rest of the group to update any new developments.
finally this is also just a way to maintain dominance in those desktop applications even as it moves some software and services online to better compete with the likes of Google Inc. and Yahoo Inc

Microsoft is probly just trying to keep this new OS from bombing like 2000 did! If I had that track record I would kick it up a notch too!

Most New Orleans residents say they still face serious problems in finding housing, arranging home repairs, obtaining medical care and getting such basic city services as garbage pickup. But six months after Hurricane Katrina, three of four of those now in the city say they're optimistic about its future.
I am happy for them, they still need our help and ....

If they are making a verson that comes with the system, and a server version, and a corp. verson I'm all for it. because they're trying to keep an edge on google and yahoo and all. Its producing better products.
Class, please excuse me for some of the comments I have made especially if they were incorrect. I am still learning. I believe the only competition, if Microsoft has any, are the search engines and I do believe they are somewhat of a monopoly in OS. Please don't be sarcastic in your remarks about what I have said as I am learning about OS and some of you already know much more than I do. Good luck on the test everyone.
this thing is supposed to be big but i think its gonna be just like all the others full of bugs and crap!! i heard this thing was gonna be 3 dvd... this thing is gonna be a not of memeory!
I read that there will be Only two Home versions of the Vista OS.
and a few business versions.
But i know alot of the other versions will be for things like, cell phones, mp3 players, and other portable smaller, or larger systems.
The total to date is 7
but i know it will be more than that

As I stated in an earlier blog, i believe that in this age convenience is the key. Microsoft has done very well with the changes in Office 2007 (AKA Office 12). Why would you want to buy a program that has buisness applications on it when you are a stay at home mom? People want easily accessible apps and they want to be able to use what the have paid for.
By narrowing down the applications on each suite, the program becomes more user-friendly.
Add-ons for the buisness one such as microsoft communicator are on the new edge of technology and gives systems like yahoo messenger and others like it a run for their money.

I found Microsoft Groove to be very interesting. Groove Networks is a leading provider of collaboration software for ad-hoc workgroups. This is also good for small buisnessses and it allows a large group of people to work on one project. More can be done this way. This is a cool merger.
